Residents invited to join Thanksgiving service for Her Majesty The Queen.
A Thanksgiving service of the life of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II will be held in Loughborough on Friday, September 16.
Residents are invited to join the Mayor of Charnwood for the service at All Saints with Holy Trinity Church in Loughborough.
The service, which starts at 7pm, will include a number of readings and hymns and give the local community an opportunity to reflect and give thanks to the life of Her Majesty The Queen.
Residents of all faiths and none, are welcome to attend the service.
Cllr Jennifer Tillotson, the Mayor of Charnwood, said: “Queen Elizabeth II was a constant figure in our lives and dedicated her life to serving this country.
“This service will give residents a chance to come together to give thanks to Her Majesty’s dedication and many years of selfless service.”
The service will be led by the Mayor’s Chaplain The Revd Wendy Dalrymple and The Right Revd. Saju Muthalaly, Bishop of Loughborough.
Revd Wendy Dalrymple said: “‘Queen Elizabeth’s Christian faith is well documented as both her inspiration and foundation for her 70 years of service and we shall commend her to God in the light of this faith.
“But both her late Majesty and our new King have spoken publicly about the significant role and contribution of all religious traditions, recognising the wisdom that is found there and the good that can come when people of different faiths and cultures come together in mutual respect and understanding.
“In Charnwood, we recognise this too so are pleased to welcome people of all faiths and none to this local service of Thanksgiving and to include contributions in our service from some of the different religious traditions within our community.”

The nation has been in mourning since the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on Thursday, September 8.
Books of Condolence have been opened at Charnwood Borough Council’s offices in Loughborough, at Loughborough Town Hall and within the Church.
There will be the opportunity to sign the book at the church after the service.
The Books of Condolence will remain open until 5pm on Tuesday September 20. The Council offices are closed at weekends, but the town hall and Church will be open, and the books will be available to sign.
A service to mark the local reading of the Proclamation of the new Sovereign King Charles III was held in Queen’s Park, Loughborough on Sunday, September 11.
