Return of Loughborough Fair – Media release by Charnwood Borough Council.

Not long to go until the return of Loughborough Fair
Thousands will enjoy the fun of Loughborough Fair as it makes its return to the town this month.

The historic fair, which is operated by Charnwood Borough Council, will be running from Wednesday November 9 to Saturday November 12.

Loughborough Fair celebrated its special 800th year anniversary in 2021 with residents enjoying rides, attractions and food and drink stalls.

Cllr Jenny Bokor, the lead member for Loughborough said: “The build up to Loughborough Fair has already begun and I am one of many across Charnwood who can’t wait to see it fill the town centre.

“It is always a great spectacle and to see families and friends enjoy the rides, attractions and food and drink stalls is just so special.”

The fair will be opened by the Mayor of Charnwood, Cllr Jennifer Tillotson at 6pm on Wednesday November 9 with the reading of the official fair proclamation.

Granby Street car park will be closed from Monday November 7 from 7pm due to it being used for attractions and rides, similar to last year.

A record number of attractions will be at Loughborough Fair this year for residents to enjoy.

They include:

Dodgems
Superbob
Bomber
Seastorm
Megaspin
Tagada
Matterhorn
Atmosphere
Miami
Starflyer plus many more!
There will be rides that are suitable for every age group with attractions available for toddlers all the way through to adults.

A number of food, drink and confectionary stalls will be on offer along with quiz stalls which will give visitors the chance to win prizes.

The Council will work closely with partners including the police and will have stewards on patrol during the fair to make sure everyone enjoys the event safely.

The opening times for Loughborough Fair 2022:

Wednesday November 9: 6pm until 11pm

Thursday November 10: 12pm until 11pm

Friday November 11: 11am until 11pm

Saturday November 12: 11 until 11pm.

The first official charter for Loughborough Fair was granted to the Lord of the Manor, Hugh le Despenser, in 1221 by King Henry III.
