This World War 1 epic, “1917, has won a remarkable seven BAFTAs and three Oscars. April 1917, the Western Front.
Two British soldiers are given a seemingly impossible mission to cross enemy territory and deliver an urgent message to
an isolated regiment which will save 1,600 lives. If the message is not received in time the regiment will walk into a
trap and be massacred. This is a contemporary take on a historic event, a truly breathtaking story from the award winning
director Sam Mendes.
This film uses an unusual technique in that it was filmed in one take with cameras running for the whole film rather than
being filmed in different parts, places and times and put together.
Film won 3 Oscars, 7 BAFTAS overall total of 135 wins & 206 nominations.
