Contractor appointed to bring the heat to council homes

A new contractor has been appointed to deliver the servicing, maintenance, and installation of all domestic and commercial heating systems to borough council homes in Charnwood.

PH Jones, a central heating services provider to the social housing market, have been awarded a three-year (with a possible one-year extension) contract by Charnwood Borough Council, which begins on December 1.

Council tenants who are due a service to their heating systems will be receiving a letter shortly advising them of their first appointment with PH Jones, who are part of British Gas and have over 50 years’ experience providing gas central heating service, repair and installations.

The compliance team within landlord services at the borough council have been working with social enterprise and public sector procurement organisation Fusion21, who have provided an efficient and compliant route to market via its Heating and Renewables Framework.

Lead member for public housing, Councillor James Poland, said: “We would like to take this opportunity to thank Fusion21 for all their support and look forward to working with the team at PH Jones.

“Knowing that the central heating in the homes of our council tenants and commercial properties will be safe and secure is great news for the council, our tenants and our customers.

“I welcome this continued investment and look forward to seeing the work being delivered to the high standards we require, not just in terms of the installations but also to show that we care for the customer.”

The estimated contract value is estimated to be worth over a £1.3 million a year and PH Jones will install and service a number of heating systems for the council.
