Share your stories for Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee

People of all ages are being asked to share their royal stories as Charnwood prepares to celebrate Her Majesty the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

Charnwood Borough Council would like to share stories and photos from residents who may have met the Queen, attended Royal events or would simply like to pay tribute to the country’s longest-serving Monarch as the world celebrates 70 years of historic service.

If you would like to share your stories, visit www.charnwood.gov.uk/platinum and complete the short online form. Submitted stories will be shared on the council’s social media channels and website.

Lead member for Loughborough, Councillor Jenny Bokor, said: “Her Majesty the Queen has had a remarkable 70 years since her ascension to the throne in 1952 and is one of the most instantly-recognisable people on the planet.

“Her decades of service are something to be admired and respected, and the Platinum Jubilee is a great opportunity for residents of Charnwood to get together, tip our hats and raise a glass to the longest-serving British Monarch.

“I am looking forward to reading residents stories and memories shared that mark respect for Her Majesty and I hope residents will take the opportunity to make many new memories while enjoying a fantastic Platinum Jubilee weekend.”

Events are being planned all over the nation for the Platinum Jubilee weekend of June 2-5, 2022, including here in Charnwood.
